David McAmis is a software developer, journalist
and author living and working in Sydney, Australia. In his
varied career, he has held the roles of consultant, technical
trainer, editor, university lecturer, consulting services
manager and has served as vice-president of a software and
services company in the US.
As a partner in Avantis,
a consulting firm that develops and supports Windows, web
and mobile applications, he fulfills the roles of enterprise
architect and application developer, bring to bear experience
across a wide number of platforms, databases and ERP systems
(including JD Edwards, Baan and SAP) to deliver innovative
solutions for common business problems.
His personal client list reads like a whos
who of Global 500 companies and includes Aetna, the
Australian Stock Exchange, Boeing Aerospace, Colonial State
Bank, Compuware, DTAC, Peachtree Software, Pepsi, the state
of New York, Merck & Co., Netscape Communications, Telstra,
and Zurich. David has travelled the world educating developers
and end-users on the benefits of business intelligence and
information management, instructing over a thousand students
in his career. He is a frequent conference speaker and has
appeared at local, national and international user group conferences,
trade shows and seminars.
David has written over 200 articles
for computer magazines and trade journals and is a recognized
expert in business intelligence and information management.
His books on Crystal Reports are consistent best-sellers and
include "Crystal Reports XI for Developers" (Charles
River Media), two editions of Professional Crystal Reports
for Visual Studio.NET (WROX) and "Crystal Reports:
A Beginner's Guide" (Osborne McGraw-Hill.)
David is also the author of the Exchange
Server 2003 Delta Guide (Que) and the "Exchange
2000 Administrator's Guide" (Premier Press). He is also
the author of "How to Do Everything with Microsoft InfoPath
2003" (Osborne McGraw-Hill) and a number of handbooks
on developer and consumer topics.
As well as working in the print media, David
has also produced and hosted his own radio show on aspirant
broadcaster 94.5, and is the producer and host of the internationally
syndicated short-program radio show, FAQ, answering
listeners "frequently asked questions" about
computers and the Internet.
